A lipoma is a fatty tumor located just beneath the skin. Many patients prefer to have lipomas removed, especially if located in a visible area.
Lipomas typically feel soft, slightly mobile, and can grow slowly, sometimes becoming tender. Lipomas are generally considered harmless, but significant growth can make patients uncomfortable.
Examination by your dermatologist can help narrow the diagnosis, but a formal diagnosis is not possible until the lipoma has been removed and/or biopsied.

Most skin tags don’t cause symptoms unless they are repeatedly irritated by rubbing against jewelry, clothing, or other items. The tags are harmless, but they won’t go away without treatment. A reason for treatment may include irritation or if you don’t like the way the skin tag looks. Friction can also play a role in the development of skin tags.
